Why Osprey?
If you're here because you know me or if you've just stumbled upon this page, you might be wondering why a girl traipsing around Africa would have a blog called Osprey Abroad. That's a fair thing to wonder.

Well, for one thing ospreys are a wide-ranging and adaptive bird that can make their home pretty much anywhere with water. For another thing, they don't travel with flocks in their migrations. I often feel a bit flock-less in my travels, and have ranged farther than I ever really thought I would, so osprey fits.

The real reason behind the name though is that growing up, my family owned a rafting company called Osprey Adventures. As the Lord calls me to an increasing number of places, I have ended up leaving behind all manner of things and people, but memories and experiences stick with me, and the name osprey represents some of the fondest of those.

Furthermore, osprey are birds of prey, famous for swooping down for fish before taking flight again. As I am in a season where I continue to move and life is ever changing, what I write may often reflect a bird's eye view of the lives, people, cultures and places around me. I have opportunities to dive for the occasional fish, but my perspective may often be one with some distance, and that's important for you as the reader to know.

One final note I have is to say that while I am writing from my perspective, I am not here to tell my own story. After all, I am hardly the author of my own life. Christ is still writing my story and the stories of the people around me, and I am here to share about him and how he continues to be the Author and Perfector of the faith of his people.
